The Food Security Center (FSC) is a university center of excellence in development collaboration at the University of Hohenheim, Stuttgart, Germany. FSC offers long-term Excellence Scholarships for PhD students from developing countries for a period of 37 months. The scholarships aim at increasing their previously gained scientific knowledge and skills relevant to food security-related issues. FSC aims at establishing an active, long-lasting collaboration with the supported researchers and their home institutions through an interactive alumni-network.

Eligible African Countries: Applicants from developing countries of the OECD DAC List are eligible to apply.
Eligibility: Applicants should be interested in an interdisciplinary and international (post) graduate education in food security relevant issues. In order to be admitted to a doctorate in one of the University of Hohenheim’s three faculties, the following degrees are required:
* Master’s program
* a degree program with a standard period of study of at least four years at a university, college of education, or art college
* a postgraduate program at a university or college of education
